The role of the Workforce Planning Officer is to provide strategic advice and assistance in the development and delivery of workforce planning strategies and activities.

This involves contributing to the maturation of the organization's strategic workforce planning function, including providing guidance on the management and monitoring of initiatives and projects that arise from workforce planning activities.

The officer will also be responsible for efficient analysis of workforce data to provide actionable insights, and monitoring progress against both operational and strategic workforce targets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of strategies to mature the group's workforce planning capability
  • Developing and delivering on workforce planning strategic projects and outcomes
  • Contributing to the provision of advice on specific workforce management and planning activities
  • Delivering the organizational strategic workforce plan
  • Providing guidance and support on the development of complex briefing materials and documentation
  • Liaising with stakeholders to obtain workforce-planning intelligence
  • Researching the broader labour market and monitoring external developments in policy and practice

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of human resources policies, practices and systems combined with an understanding of workforce planning and management principles.

They will also possess excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain workforce management concepts to a non-human resources audience.

Additionally, the candidate will be able to work collaboratively in a team-based environment actively participating in and contributing to team meetings and exchange information to support the work area and team objectives.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Strong understanding of human resources policies, practices and systems
  • Understanding of workforce planning and management principles
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to explain workforce management concepts to a non-human resources audience
