**About the Role**
Uniting's Research and Social Policy team is seeking a Researcher to join a multidisciplinary team on a full-time ongoing basis.
This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities and offers diverse interactions with programs, practitioners, university partners, and government agencies. A typical day for a Researcher may involve supporting academics and assisting Principal Researchers in conducting research within our services, collating the perspectives and experiences of our staff and clients, or delivering presentations of findings to colleagues or at conferences. The role also includes contributing to projects involving codesign and consultation with First Nations people and communities in NSW and the ACT. So, it is an identified First Nations position.
The role sits within Uniting's Social Impact and Advocacy directorate, alongside the Advocacy/Government Relations team, the Social Innovation Team, and the External Relations Team.
**About You**
This position is well-suited for an emerging researcher looking to gain experience and use their skills to inform research and innovation to disrupt entrenched disadvantage. If you have skills in qualitative research, and an interest in disseminating results to diverse audiences and translating them into practice, we would love to hear from you
As this is an identified First Nations position, we require proof of Aboriginality.
**Your skill set will include**
- Ability to translate research findings into proposals driving practice improvement, innovation, and policy change.
- Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative research in practical settings, alongside an interest in quantitative analysis/mixed methods research.
- Strong project planning, implementation, and management skills.
- Capacity to consult and cultivate productive relationships with practitioners, policymakers, and academics.
- Firm commitment to social justice and keen interest in Uniting's research and policy areas.
**Your Qualifications and Experience**
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. social science, public health or social work).
**Even Better if**
- Knowledge of government bodies and of social policy relating to the areas in which Uniting offers services.
- Experience developing and contributing to research projects in partnership with Aboriginal people, staff and/or communities
- Willingness to learn and use research software such as R, SPSS, Endnote, and NVivo
- Interest and skills in dissemination and knowledge translation.
