**The Department**

The Audience Data & Insights Team, forms part of the Corporate Strategy Division. The team is expanding, as we evolve the work we do, paving the way for SBS's audience-led, data driven transformation, for the benefit of all Australians. A team of passionate and experienced researchers, we strive through creating opportunities through insights to tell stories.

**The Role**

A unique role responsible for managing research with and for our First Nations peoples and communities, providing insights for strategic direction, delivering a deep understanding of media behaviours and choices.

The research seeks to acknowledge and understand First Nations experiences, perspectives and voices, to deliver insights about the content, platform and language needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences.

Reporting into the Audience Research Lead within the Audience Data & Insights Team. The core responsibilities of the role are:

- Management and delivery of research and information that provides insights into the knowledges, perspectives and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences
- Conducting research through both qualitative and quantitative methods in alignment with Indigenous research methodologies
- Develop clear actionable insights for strategic direction and present to senior decision makers across the business to inform and guide their decisions
- Proactively identify ways to meaningfully engage with, and research responsibly with, First Nations peoples and communities
- Actively contribute to the organisation's understanding of the changing media landscape, particularly with a First Nations lens, by monitoring industry sources and sharing relevant information with the wider team
- Ensure the research is conducted through First Nations Research principles: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices first; Be culturally led and informed; Engage meaningfully; Follow cultural protocols; Gathering insights inclusively and authentically; Give back to community

**About you**
- Existing and established Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander professional, academic and community-based networks and connections
- Strong relationship building skills, with the ability to build authentic partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and experts
- Deep understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and knowledge of protocols
- Qualitative research skills, including running focus groups, community consultations and interviews
- Quantitative research skills, including questionnaire design, survey implementation, analysis and reporting
