Senior Research Associate for First Nations Social and Emotional Wellbeing
Job Description:This role involves making independent or original contributions to research programs focused on improving social and emotional wellbeing outcomes for First Nations individuals, families, and communities.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead strengths-based research initiatives that develop culturally supportive strategies and interventions to improve SEWB outcomes.
- Investigate factors influencing SEWB and develop innovative treatments as appropriate.
- Collaborate with First Nations communities and stakeholders to ensure co-creation of knowledge and solutions; supervise and mentor junior researchers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the cultural, social, and historical contexts that influence First Nations SEWB.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- A PhD in a related discipline (e.g., psychology, public health, Indigenous studies) and/or relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting research on First Nations SEWB, with a track record of high-quality, culturally relevant research.
- Proven ability to lead research teams and mentor junior researchers, especially in culturally diverse or interdisciplinary settings.
- 17% Superannuation and leave loading.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Up to 10 days paid culture leave annually for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff members.
