About the role

The Director, Stakeholder and Community Engagement leads and oversees all communication and engagement activities for the School Infrastructure major capital works portfolio supporting programs and projects from inception to handover, including proactive communications and community engagement, issues identification and management, and stakeholder engagement where it applies to announced projects.

The role primarily involves managing communications for a large and complex capital infrastructure portfolio comprising multiple programs and projects, while also promoting team alignment and fostering strong collaboration with senior stakeholders.

About you

We're seeking a strategic leader with proven experience managing high performing teams and delivering complex, large-scale projects.

With strong expertise in communications and engagement, you bring a history of leading major initiatives in capital works or similarly complex environments, ensuring outcomes are achieved in fast paced, high volume environments.

You'll excel in navigating politically sensitive environments, working collaboratively with senior stakeholders, government and community partners to deliver impactful results. Your ability to balance strategic oversight with operational delivery, combined with your understanding of large infrastructure or capital projects, positions you to thrive in this critical leadership role.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management of communications and engagement within a large complex organisation.Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in overseeing large, complex infrastructure portfolio in multi geographical regions.Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as business, management, communications, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check) and current NSW driver's licence.Communications, and community and stakeholder engagement experience to navigate through state and local government processes combined with strong leadership skills and the ability to drive performance in a complex, politically and commercially sensitive environment.Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current WWCC Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC's validity (up to 5 years).
