We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head Chef to lead our culinary operations across both corporate functions and retail events at Sydney Motorsport Park in Eastern Creek.
This role requires a dynamic leader who can manage large-scale events, oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, and maintain the highest standards of food quality, safety, and service.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work seamlessly in both a fast-paced café environment and a high-end corporate catering setting.
Key Responsibilities
Ordering & Forecasting
- Order stock and supplies for corporate and retail events.
- Forecast requirements for retail and major events to ensure accurate planning and cost efficiency.
Stock & Inventory Management
- Conduct regular stocktakes and maintain accurate records.
- Manage stock levels across all kitchen areas to ensure minimal waste and cost control.
- Oversee receiving of stock and reconciliation of invoices.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and supervise a team of casual chefs (up to 20 on major event days).
- Provide clear direction, training, and support to ensure high performance and productivity.
- Liaise daily with the Operations Manager, Staffing Coordinator, and Venue Manager to align kitchen operations with overall event and business needs.
Menu & Recipe Management
- Create, standardize, and manage recipes for both corporate and retail offerings.
- Ensure consistency and quality across all food preparation and presentation.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene practices are strictly adhered to.
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and HACCP standards.
Skills & Attributes
- Ability to work confidently in both café-style service environments and high-end corporate catering.
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritise under pressure.
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with team members and management.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate large, diverse teams.
- Strong knowledge of stock control, ordering, and invoice management.
- Creativity and innovation in menu planning and recipe development.
- Thorough understanding of food safety regulations and compliance requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a Head Chef or Senior Chef role, preferably in events, catering, or high-volume environments.
- Formal culinary qualifications (Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale catering teams and operations.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in ordering, stock control, and budgeting.
- Ability to work some weekends and shifts starting from 6am
- Driver's licence is essential (note: venue is not accessible via public transport)
