Job Description
Job Description:
Play a key role in shaping the future of flight training by leading the delivery of innovative VR solutions that improve safety, performance, and learning across Qantas Flight Training
Flexible ways of working available
Full-time, 13-month Fixed Term position based in Mascot, Sydney
At Qantas, we represent Australia to the world. We're known for our spirit, mateship and a can-do attitude. We see it as our responsibility to take ownership and drive outcomes, taking the organisation forward. We won't settle for less than the best outcome. We each have the opportunity to add value and make an impact on the business.
As the Manager – VR Program, you'll lead the development and delivery of innovative virtual reality (VR) training solutions across Qantas Flight Training. Collaborating closely with Flight Training SMEs, Flight Operations, and IT teams, you'll drive the design and implementation of immersive VR technologies that elevate trainee performance, enhance safety outcomes, and reduce training costs.
This dynamic role involves managing large-scale projects, fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders, and staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies. You'll oversee project planning, vendor partnerships, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the successful rollout of VR programs aligned with Qantas' strategic goals.
You'll also play a key role in navigating complex operational environments, supporting change initiatives, and bringing a resilient, solutions-focused mindset to everything you do. As a leader, you'll provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to support team development and performance.
This role also offers the chance to travel across our Flight Training bases in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Auckland, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with teams on the ground, experience different training environments, and see the impact of your work in action.
What you'll bring to the role:
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, or professional equivalent experience in project or program management
Strong experience managing complex, high-impact projects or tech-driven programs
Proven ability to deliver results through collaboration, innovative thinking, and effective change management
Advanced expertise in VR/XR/AR technologies (preferred but not essential)
Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and lead cross-functional collaboration
Creative problem-solving and a focus on continuous improvement
Why Qantas?
You'll join a team where creativity and passion are encouraged. Our people come together to allow us to dream big and deliver successfully.
There are many different opportunities across our team, which means you'll be able to grow both personally and professionally at Qantas. Your development is a priority for us – so that you can maintain the high standards our customers have come to expect and can continue to develop over time. You'll be supported from day 1 with on the job training and coaching as well as our formal training opportunities. While you may start in this role, we've got a great track record of supporting our people to take their career in so many different directions, the destinations are endless.
