Spicers is a national Company with offices and warehouses in every state and territory in Australia. We are a leading provider of products and services to the print, design and advertising industries. Our range is targeted to various print segments and includes fine paper, Visual Communication materials, synthetics, self-adhesives, packaging grades and a number of other substrates.

About this Position

Develop and implement sales strategies and strong customer and supplier relations to achieve national sales and gross profit performance in the CB product vertical, with a strong focus on VIC, NSW and QLD markets and the 3M product range.

Lead a team of BDEs to promote and specify products to end users, with a particular focus on corporate businesses including major events, government departments, agencies/brand managers and major national brands or retail groups.

Maintain existing relationships and sales pipelines, develop new relationships and sales opportunities and action leads generated by 3M.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet individual and team financial targets with a strong focus on profit
  • Plan, communicate, implement and achieve sales and business strategies to penetrate segments including – Large Convenience / Retail brands, emergency services, events / exhibitions, local councils
  • Maintain and increase profitable growth and market share of 3M products across Australia (particularly VIC, NSW & QLD), through specification of products
  • Increase brand awareness in relation to Spicers and its product ranges
  • Develop strong and trusted relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Maintain regular sales calls for allocated end users and channel customers and an up-to-date customer database, activity and pipeline reporting
  • Provide input into Spicers' sales strategies regarding the management of relationships with existing and prospective key accounts and end users
  • Propose marketing content, assets, etc for specific applications and or customer penetration
  • Prepare and amend pricing agreements with customers as well as Value Propositions, tenders and quotations as required
  • Regular reporting on market trends and activities, opportunities, self-actions, price levels, target customers, sales opportunities and market/competitor insights to support improved strategies or performance
  • Liaise with other Company functions (e.g. Purchasing, Internal Sales, DCs etc.) in a respectful and meaningful manner to achieve Company strategies and outcomes
  • Represent Spicers in a professional and ethical manner to customers
  • Regular driving of a vehicle required to perform on-the-road sales activities
  • Regular presence/attendance required at your local Company site to support effective performance of your responsibilities and effective leadership of your direct reports
  • Requirement to send/receive emails and take/make calls outside of standard business hours on an ad-hoc basis to meet urgent customer needs
  • Interstate travel, or into regional areas of your home state to attend Company, customer, supplier or industry events and meetings.
  • Comply with all relevant legislation and Company Policies including Safety, Competition Compliance and Equal Opportunity.
  • Ad hoc duties as required, including administrative tasks relating to claims, pricing, and credit matters

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in sales, marketing, business or related field would be an advantage
  • Minumum 3-5 years' experience in an external sales or business development role selling into major events, government departments, agencies/brand managers and major national brands
  • Prior experience managing a team (highly regarded)
  • Industry and product knowledge
