We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Maintenance Officer to join our team at the brand-new Footscray Hospital. You'll help maintain this cutting-edge healthcare facility to the highest standards- this hands-on role offers exceptional variety and purpose. You'll perform skilled carpentry and maintenance work, coordinate contractors, manage supplies, and ensure this vital facility operates flawlessly. As the secondary point of contact for maintenance communications, you'll build collaborative relationships throughout the hospital while upholding our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Operations

· Perform carpentry and general maintenance related tasks on a daily basis to a high standard.

· Manage equipment upkeep, furniture movement, and storage logistics.

· Support hospital functions and setups (e.g. events, exams, open days).

· Assist tradespeople and contractors as required.

· Respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution.

· Maintain cleanliness and order across hospital facilities.

Facility Management

· Monitor building systems and ensure operational efficiency.

· Oversee security systems and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

· Conduct regular inspections and address safety concerns immediately.

Inventory & Supplies

· Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.

· Order and replenish stock as needed.

· Monitor and manage maintenance budgets.

Contractor Coordination

· Liaise with external contractors for specialised services.

· Supervise contractor work to ensure quality and compliance.

· Obtain quotes and manage service contracts.

Support for Hospital Operations

· Assist with emergency repairs and urgent maintenance issues.

· Support hospital staff in maintaining a safe and effective environment.

· Participate in emergency response planning and execution.

Preventive Maintenance

· Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.

· Maintain accurate records of inspections and maintenance activities.

What You Bring

Must-Haves:

  • Trade qualification or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Solid knowledge of building and grounds maintenance
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current National Criminal History Police Check
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills for maintenance management systems
  • Professional approach and attention to detail
  • Up to date Immunisations

Great to Have:

  • Healthcare or education facility experience
  • First Aid certification
  • Scissor Lift License and Working at Heights
  • White Card
