**The Opportunity**
Our Operations and Maintenance Department has an exciting opportunity for a Tree Establishment Officer to support in the delivery Council's tree planting programs. You will actively promote the benefits of Councils Urban Forest Strategy, ensuring an integrated, contemporary and holistic approach, both in the operational space and across the organisation.
As our **Tree Establishment Officer,** you will work closely with the Urban Forest and Open Space Teams supporting in the delivery of various tree planting programs in Parks, Open Spaces, Reserves and Streetscapes.
This is a permanent full time position that includes a fortnightly rostered day off monthly and a 10% superannuation contributions.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Implementation of tree establishment programs in accordance with Council's Street Planting Strategy and Urban Forest Strategy.
- Oversee the growth of new trees from planting to establishment.
- Support the Coordinator Urban Forest in the supervision and monitoring contractor's progress in meeting work schedules, objectives and quality standards.
- Identification of appropriate works required to maintain trees in a safe and healthy condition (i.e. formative pruning and establishment maintenance).
- Conduct quality assurance audits of contractor works under the direction of the Coordinator Urban Forest.
- Conduct quality assurance for the supply of new tree stock.
- Manage new tree data in accordance with Councils asset management system.
- Monitor and provide feedback to Coordinator Urban Forest on contractor OH&S compliance.
- Provide support to Urban Forest Planner regarding capital works projects.
- Deliver practical completion and handover of new tree assets.

**About You**
- Certificate V in Arboriculture or relevant Local Government experience in Urban Forestry or Arboriculture or other closely related field.
- Thorough understanding of the principals relating to contemporary Urban Forestry including tree establishment and the monitoring of tree establishment programs.
- Understanding of the principals of formative pruning techniques relating to AS4373, 2007 Pruning of Amenity Trees.
- Demonstrated experience working independently to deliver high quality Urban Forest outcomes.
- A current Victorian Driver's license.
- Physically and mentally fit to undertake duties as outlined in this position description.
