
Bookkeeping & Administration Role – Xero Experience Essential | Construction

This is a full-time position, ideal for someone who thrives in a small team environment, has a sharp eye for detail, and brings solid experience in Xero bookkeeping and administrative support. Reporting directly to the Director, you'll be a key part of the team keeping our construction business running smoothly behind the scenes.
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-day administrative duties
Management of compliance documentation and insurances within the construction industry
- Liaising with key stakeholders including clients, staff, and contractors
- General office administration and document management
- Ad-hoc office duties
- Office management
Day-to-day bookkeeping using Xero
Accounts payable and receivable
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Payroll processing, Payroll Tax, Child Support, and Superannuation
- Reporting preparation including IAS, BAS, and TPAR
- Invoicing, purchase order tracking and job costing
- Liaising with External Accountant
- Maintaining accurate records and up-to-date files
Requirements – What We're Looking For:
- Minimum 2+ years' bookkeeping experience (ideally within construction or trades)
- Minimum 2+ years administration experience
- Proven proficiency with Xero software (non-negotiable)
- Solid understanding of payroll, GST, BAS, and financial reporting
- Strong administrative and time management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Australian work rights
Desirable Qualities:
- Prior experience in a construction, trades, or service-based business
- Knowledge of job costing or project-based accounting
- Familiarity with construction compliance admin (insurances, contracts, safety documentation)
- Xero Certified
- BAS Agent
- Proficient with cloud-based tools and systems including Microsoft office suite
