About the Role

Arc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Carpenter to join our regional site team for the refurbishment of the Royal Mail Hotel, a landmark heritage pub in Lake Cargelligo.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a hands-on, heritage refurbishment project combining traditional craftsmanship, adaptive reuse, and modern construction techniques. You'll work closely with our Sydney-based team, project consultants, and local trades to help bring this important building back to life.

This is a site-based role in a regional setting, with accommodation and living-away-from-home allowances provided.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings and specifications on-site;
  • Resolving heritage and architectural construction details.
  • Measure, cut, shape materials such as wood, plastics, fibre cement sheeting etc.;
  • Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, door frames, roofs, etc.;
  • Build cabinetry and joinery as specified;
  • Install structures and fixtures;
  • Maintain a clean and organised site;
  • Inspect and replace damaged structures and fixtures;
  • Instruct and direct Labourers and other relevant trades;
  • Quality control.

Skills and experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Carpenter;
  • Completed carpentry apprenticeship;
  • Sound knowledge of construction methodology;
  • Ability to produce detailed drawings and sketches;
  • Interest in heritage, architectural or sustainable construction a bonus;
  • In-depth knowledge of carpentry materials & techniques;
  • Confidence working independently on a remote site
