Primary objective

Provide a range of business support, registration and benefit payment services for the administration of NT Build, a portable long

service leave scheme for the Northern Territory building and construction industry

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide, as the first point of contact, an effective information and problem-solving service, principally to employers and workers,

regarding eligibility and operation of the NT Build portable long service leave scheme.

2. Receive, assess and process employer, worker registrations and benefit payment claims, to assess eligibility for and compliance

with the Scheme; prepare and send advisory letter and information to registrants.

3. Update and maintain employer and worker service details as required in the NT Build business system, to ensure information is

entered in a timely and accurate manner to ensure data integrity.

4. Provide general administrative support to staff and the Board, including procurement services, office supplies stock control and

petty cash management

5. Assist with the preparation and publication of communication and marketing material, including maintenance of the NT Build

website and preparation of information sheets.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Sound written skills including the ability to assess and interpret information to prepare appropriate documentation,

correspondence and reports.

2. Demonstrated oral communication skills; to relate effectively, confidently, with patience, compassion and composure; to inform,

persuade and to negotiate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds.

3. Well-developed administrative and organisational skills; including prioritising tasks, monitoring and meeting deadlines.

4. Demonstrated ability to function effectively as part of a team within a small office environment and with minimal supervision.

5. Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret legislation, to provide accurate advice to clients.

6. High level of computer literacy skills, including with the Microsoft Office suite, databases, spreadsheets, mail and record

management applications.

7. Current NT Drivers License

Desirable

1. Understanding of the building and construction industry in the NT and related employment practices.

2. Experience in using desktop publishing applications and financial management applications such as MYOB.

NT Build is a statutory authority established under the CILSLB Act to administer the portable long service leave scheme for workers

in the Northern Territory building and construction industry. Staff engaged by NT Build are employed by the Commissioner for

Public Employment and made available to NT Build under standard NT public sector terms and conditions.
