About the Role
The Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in identifying, nurturing, and converting new business opportunities across sectors such as local government, SMEs, B2C, and other commercial markets. You will work closely with the Head of Sales, Key Account Manager, and Sales Support / Coordinator to drive lead generation, partnership growth, and revenue outcomes.
This role is ideal for someone who understands fleet or commercial sales, is passionate about sustainability, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Market & Opportunity Development
•
Research, identify, and pursue new business opportunities across targeted segments (e.g., local councils, trades, delivery services, utilities, small businesses)
• Build and maintain a pipeline of high-potential prospects, and qualify leads for sales follow-up
• Attend industry events, expos, and networking forums to raise brand awareness and generate leads
• Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging market needs
Sales & Stakeholder Engagement
• Conduct discovery meetings and product demonstrations with potential customers and partners
• Present compelling commercial proposals, tailored to customer needs and fleet requirements
• Collaborate with the Key Account Manager on larger deals and fleet tenders
• Work with the Sales Support / Coordinator to prepare quotes, proposals, and customer documentation
• Support the Head of Sales in achieving monthly sales targets as per KPI's
Partnerships & Channel Growth
• Engage with relevant industry partners, leasing companies, fleet managers, vehicle fit out installation partners & sustainability groups
• Develop referral networks and local partnerships to boost lead generation and community engagement
Dealer Network Development
• Assist in identifying, onboarding, and supporting new dealer partners across key regions
• Help implement dealer sales and service strategies in line with regional expansion plans
• Build strong relationships with dealer stakeholders to ensure alignment with brand standards and customer experience expectations
• Provide feedback and insights to the Head of Sales on dealer performance, capability, and areas for improvement
About You
- 5-7 years in a B2B business development, sales, or fleet-related role (automotive or EV sector preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, convert leads, and build lasting client relationships
- Comfortable engaging with decision-makers at various levels including government, operations, and procurement
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- You're target-oriented with a proven ability to close deals and consistently achieve or exceed sales targets.
- Passionate about sustainability, clean tech, or electric vehicles
- Strong proficiency with CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce), Microsoft Office, and proposal writing
