Charcoal Clothing is one of Australia's fastest-growing women's fashion brands, with a bold digital presence and a customer-first approach. We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join our team and start your career in the exciting world of fashion buying.

If you've got retail fashion experience and a passion for product, this is your chance to step into head office and learn the ropes alongside our Buyer and Merchandise Planner.

Kindly note this is an in-house position, located at our HQ in Brisbane, QLD (not available for remote work).


About the Role

As Assistant Buyer, you'll work closely with the Buyer and Merchandise Planner, gaining hands-on exposure to the full buying process. You'll support with everything from order sheets and supplier communication to forecasting and product launches, while learning how a fast-growing fashion brand operates behind the scenes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Buyer and Merchandise Planner with product selection, forecasting, and seasonal planning
  • Assist with purchase orders, supplier communication, and delivery tracking
  • Help keep order sheets, product data, and collection details accurate and organised
  • Learn how to track timelines (critical path) and support the team to meet deadlines
  • Assist with replenishment and store send-backs, keeping stock levels aligned
  • Contribute to trade and competitor reports, and assist with managers' meetings
  • Support with accessory sourcing and coordinating new product opportunities
  • Keep an eye on out-of-stock lines and update the team on changes or risks
  • Collaborate with design, e-commerce, and marketing to support smooth product launches

About You
  • Retail fashion experience preferred (store, styling, or head office exposure a plus)
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets)
  • Eager to learn, with a proactive and solution-focused mindset
  • Confident communicator, able to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Passion for fashion and an eye for trends that resonate with the Charcoal customer
