About the role
We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Training Supervisor, who can enthusiastically lead the Queensland training team and facilitate nationally recognised training courses. You will lead a team of approx 2 ft and 5-6 casual trainers. You will complete training both at client locations and at our Training facility, Mackay. You will also be involved in developing new training course materials and writing training plans for our clients.
Our areas of expertise include Height Safety, Confined Space Entry and Rescue, Fire Warden, Work Health and Safety, First Aid, Emergency Response Training, Vertical Rescue Training, Fire Team Training, and First Aid Training.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to
- Leadership
- Ensure that all work, actions and behaviours of you and subordinate FSA personnel are in accordance with FSA's Core Values.
- Drive the operational execution of strategic plan annual and quarterly goals in your location.
- Lead and supervise the training team in your location.
- Contribute to an effective culture within FSA and proactively run programs that contribute to the improvement of FSA's culture.
- Contribute to an effective safety culture within FSA and proactively run programs that contribute to the improvement of FSA's safety culture.

- Manage the training schedule of trainers to drive operational efficiency and reduce expenditure.
- Run regular 'huddles' with trainer team.
- Manage the professional development, up skilling of trainers, and RTO compliance locally within the region.
- Recruit and induct new trainers (permanent and casual).
- Ensure that all equipment, asset, and infrastructure registers and tasks are completed and up to date.
- Monitor and provide servicing and repairs of training equipment and facilities.
Operations – Training Delivery and Management
- Deliver training courses, and conduct assessments as per FSA policies and procedures
- Identify employees training needs and provide or arrange the provision of training in the required areas.
- Conduct performance development planning with all employees to clearly identify performance targets, as well as opportunities for career development and succession planning.
- Ensure each person in the team knows and understands the performance levels that are expected from them in respect to their role.
- Manage poor performing employees using a formal process to identify areas of difficulty, clearly define expected levels of performance or behaviour, provide support and opportunities for improvement and ensure timely reviews of performance.
- Attend intra/interstate training activities for internal development (where required).
- Travel intra/interstate and to remote locations to conduct scheduled training (overnight stays are an essential requirement).
- Meet set budgets for operational expenditure.
Operations – General
- Organise all resources, materials, assets, and other requirements to deliver training within your region.
- Ensure team compliance to RTO, Quality, HSES policies, plans, and procedures.
- Regularly review trainer feedback forms and counsel and assist trainers as required
- Regularly complete trainer assessments in the field.
- Ensure all Trainers present themselves professionally and work in accordance with FSA policies and procedures.
- Minimise travel and meet billable utilisation targets.
- Ensure accurate and appropriate training records capabilities are kept as per the training completed for all Training delivery staff.
- Ensure timely completion of all Trainer reports and post-training delivery requirements.
- Write, edit and review training programs and training materials.
- Lead the SME work-groups and trainer team in the development of world class training resources.
- Approve casual Trainers timesheets and claims, ensuring accuracy.
- Review and approve contractors claims for training, ensuring accuracy.
- Review and approve full time Trainers leave applications, expense reimbursements and meal claims.
- Ensure professional development and logbooks are completed by staff.
- Ensure upskilling of all Trainers is carried out and correct paperwork lodged with compliance.
- Be responsive and on call after hours for security alarm/emergency situations.
- Maintain, fill and process logistics of BA cylinders.
- Swap, replace and process logistics of LPG gas cylinders (Bunnings).
- Organise replenishment of fire extinguishers CO2 and refill water ones.
- Process logistics of all company vehicles from service/repairs.
- Organise the disposal of vehicles and recyclable parts in accordance with local laws.
- General upkeep and maintenance of fixtures and fittings.
- Safeguard the structure, protection and upkeep of allocated premises through maintenance contracts.
- Maintenance and organisation of servicing of all Warehouse equipment and continuation of corresponding asset register.
- Complete any tasks or work as directed by the company.
Training Operations
- You will be required to work as part of our training team, wear our company uniform and support our operations
- Conduct highly engaging emergency response and safety training sessions on-site at client locations and FSA offices
- Conduct training sessions at our public training course venues.
- Conduct on-site emergency response exercises
- Travel if required to locations within your state to assist our team.
- The successful candidate will hold the following minimum qualifications and experience:
- Experience in leading a complex team with varying requirements across several locations
- Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Latest TAE with LLN competencies
- Exceptional organisational, delivery and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead a successful training team and promote your team to work autonomously
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- A strong safety culture
- A self-starter who is reliable working autonomously across various projects and courses and is able to travel as required.
