Mackay Sugar is seeking motivated and safety-focused individuals to join our team as a Boiler Station Attendant (Fixed Term position with opportunity to transition to Permanent for successful trainees). This role plays a key part in supporting the operation of our high-pressure boiler plant within one of the region's leading sugar milling facilities.

About the Role

As a Boiler Station Attendant, you will assist in the safe and efficient operation of the boiler station, including fuel handling, monitoring plant performance, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. You will work alongside experienced Boiler Operators and gain valuable hands-on experience in the daily operation of the station.

Training and Career Development

This is not just a Boiler Station Attendant position — it is part of a structured training and development program designed to progress successful applicants toward becoming fully qualified Advanced Boiler Operators.

The development pathway includes:

• Stage 1 – Boiler Station Attendant: Gain foundational knowledge and experience in boiler and fuel system operations.
• Stage 2 – Turbine Operation: Complete a Turbine Operator course and ticket, progressing to duties as a Milling Plant Attendant / Roving Driver.
• Stage 3 – Advanced Boiler Qualification: Upon completion of your turbine qualification, undertake further training to obtain your Advanced Boiler Ticket, qualifying you as a Boiler Operator.

Depending on individual progress and commitment, the full training program can be completed within approximately two years, leading to qualification as a fully ticketed Advanced Boiler Operator.

Mackay Sugar's goal is to develop skilled operators from within by providing clear career pathways, nationally recognised training, and ongoing mentorship from experienced personnel.
