After 21 wonderful years in Chifley Tower, we're embarking on an exciting new journey with a fresh location in the Martin Place area of Sydney's CBD. As we open this next chapter, we're looking to expand our team with people who are just as passionate about great food, service, and hospitality as we are.

About the Role:

Azuma is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Assistant Sommelier to support the wine program at our vibrant and sophisticated Japanese restaurant. In this role, you will support the Restaurant Manager in maintaining the wine program, with a strong focus on administration and daily operations. Key responsibilities include managing stock levels, handling orders and invoices, maintaining cellar organisation, and ensuring wine systems are up to date. You will also be active on the floor, delivering thoughtful wine service and mentoring junior team members.

About You:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in wine service within a quality-driven or high-volume dining venue
  • WSET Level 2 certification is required; WSET Level 3 is highly regarded
  • Confidence in guiding guests through the wine list and offering thoughtful pairing suggestions
  • Strong communication and a calm, guest-focused presence on the floor
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to support the wider floor team
  • Passion for wine, regional styles and the stories behind producers
  • RSA Certificate
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends
