Project Manager – Refurbishments

Full-time | Permanent | Based in Leichhardt (Inner West Sydney) | Travel required across NSW & ACT

At Uniting, we believe everyone deserves dignity, choice,and care as they age. To support this vision, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Refurbishments to join our Property & Housing Directorate.

This role is responsible for the planning, delivery, and close-out of refurbishment projects across our Aged Care and Retirement & Independent Living Villages portfolio, as well as select minor capital works projects.

About the Role

Based in Leichhardt, with regular travel across NSW and the ACT, you will:

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of room refurbishments and selected minor capital works (typically up to $1M in value).
  • Oversee scoping, tender review, contractor engagement, project delivery, financial close-out and handover.
  • Act as the key point of contact for internal stakeholders, contractors and consultants.
  • Lead compliance with WHS standards, Uniting's policies and service-level agreements.
  • Conduct audits, manage KPIs, and chair quarterly contractor meetings alongside Procurement and Capital Works colleagues.
  • Support reporting and governance processes, including programme and budget updates.

This is a people-focused project management role where success is built on collaboration, communication and problem-solving in a live operational environment.

About You

You are a qualified and experienced Project Manager who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. You're able to balance operational detail with the bigger picture and bring projects to completion on time, within budget and to high quality standards.

Essential:

  • Degree in a relevant building discipline (construction, engineering or architecture).
  • Project Management qualifications (PMBOK, Prince2 or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing refurbishment and/or capital works projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with contractors, consultants and clients.
  • Strong contract administration and project reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and related tools.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in aged care, retirement living or similar live environments.
  • Experience with Dynamics 365.
  • Proven track record delivering roll-out programmes or minor capital works projects.
