Legal Assistant – Wills & Estates (Administration and Litigation)
- Friendly and supportive team
- Multi-faceted role in a thriving team
- 200m from Hawthorn station
Moores is a values-driven law firm that is committed to making a difference for our clients, our people and the communities in which we operate.
The role
We are seeking an energetic and client-focused Legal Assistant to join our friendly Wills and Estates team. This is an exciting role working in a collegiate, dynamic and fast paced team supporting lawyers.
Our team includes lawyers who specialise in all aspects of estate planning (including Will and powers of attorney) and deceased estate work (including administration and litigation) so knowledge or experience in these areas and/or in broader client services roles will be valued.
The role requires a mix of legal administration skills and PA capability.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with estate administration files (including preparing applications for probate and letters of administration) and estate litigation files
• Support our clients with your strong customer service and communication skills
• Responding to client enquiries via email and phone
• Assisting with drafting and preparing correspondence, documents, presentations, and bills
• Arranging and manage calendar appointments with our people and clients
• Assisting with managing work allocation, helping the team track and achieve their goals
• Supporting our team with other admin tasks that come across your desk
• File correspondence and documents
What we're looking for in you
Our ideal candidate is an excellent organiser and communicator, with at least three years' experience as an Administration/Personal Assistant or Legal Assistant in a professional service or legal environment.
You will have had experience in Wills & Estates and have already proven yourself to be a strong team player, confident to embrace technology, proactive and client focused. You work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
You will have strong client service skills and be able to build and maintain effective relationships by developing an understanding of our clients and their business. You will genuinely care about and want to help people.
A thorough understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 suite is essential, and knowledge of iManage, and legal practice management systems is welcomed.
What we Offer
We're offering you the opportunity to become a valued member of a dynamic firm with fantastic mentoring and learning opportunities. We have leave options, including a wellbeing leave day, volunteer leave, purchase leave and an annual Moores Day (a day off on the Monday before Cup Day every year).
We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, and a wellbeing program in addition to a supportive and friendly culture. While the role is predominantly office based, there is some potential for some WFH.
About us
Moores is not a traditional law firm. We are unique because:
• We actually innovate – we were one of the first law firms to ditch time sheets in favour of value pricing and we're not looking back We price value, not time.
• Our staff love working here –Moores recently ranked in the top 25% of Australian organisations surveyed by InSync in relation to employee engagement.
• We are truly flexible – majority of our staff and practice leaders work flexibly or part time in a hybrid work environment.
• We are proudly inclusive, diverse and committed to gender equality – our CEO and more than 50 percent of our practice leaders are female.
• We have a strong commitment to pro bono and social impact – our pro bono resources supported thousands of NFPs.
• We focus on working with purpose-aligned clients to deliver great outcomes that benefit the community.
• We keep it real - we're a down to earth bunch who like to work hard but have fun along the way and don't take ourselves too seriously.
• We do it with heart - people are the heart of Moores. We like and care about each other.
How do I apply?
This is a full time role, however as we value flexibility, we are happy to accept applications for flexibility with close to full time hours.
