Michael Page is proud to be exclusively partnering with a leading ASX-listed organisation to recruit a permanent Payroll Compliance Specialist. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing payroll function where compliance is not just a priority, it is a strategic imperative driven from the top.

Client Details

Our client is a large, well-established ASX-listed organisation with operations across Australia and internationally. Known for its strong governance and operational discipline, the business places payroll compliance at the centre of its people and risk management strategies.

While the company operates globally, this role is focused on supporting its Australian operations. Payroll compliance is treated as a business-critical function, with strong executive sponsorship and a proactive approach to identifying risks, improving processes, and ensuring alignment with legislation and enterprise agreements. You will be joining a team that leads from the front, where compliance is embedded into every process, system, and decision - not just to meet obligations, but to uphold the organisation's values of fairness, transparency, and accountability.

Description

As the Payroll Compliance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring payroll governance, compliance, and continuous improvement across the business. You will act as a subject matter expert on payroll legislation, enterprise agreements (EAs), and internal policies, supporting both the Payroll and HR teams with investigations, audits, and proactive compliance initiatives.

This is not a reactive role. It is about getting ahead of compliance issues, driving education, and embedding best practices across the function. You will be empowered to influence change and ensure payroll integrity at every level.

  • Provide expert advice on payroll legislation, EAs, and compliance matters
  • Lead payroll-related components of EA negotiations and salary updates
  • Manage internal and external audits, FBT reporting, and EOFY processes
  • Develop user guides, training materials, and run education sessions for HR, Payroll, and Managers
  • Investigate and remediate payroll discrepancies with a focus on root cause analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement in payroll processes, systems, and governance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to uphold compliance standards

Profile

  • Excellent knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, EAs, and audit processes
  • Strong excel experience will be looked upon very favourably
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proactive, analytical, and solutions-focused mindset
  • Passion for payroll compliance
