People in Payroll is thrilled to partner with a leading sporting organisation seeking an experienced Payroll Officer for a 9-month contract based in Melbourne.

About the Role

This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of fortnightly and ad hoc payrolls across a diverse workforce. You'll manage end-to-end payroll functions, ensure compliance with legislation and EBAs, and play a key part in supporting a collaborative finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately process fortnightly and ad hoc payrolls in accordance with legislation, awards, and EBAs.
  • Maintain payroll and rostering databases, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Manage employee lifecycle transactions including new starters, changes, and terminations.
  • Process leave applications, salary adjustments, superannuation, and payroll tax obligations.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports, statistics, and other required documentation.
  • Respond to payroll queries promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external agencies as required.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and system efficiencies.

About You

  • Experience: 3+ years' end-to-end payroll experience within a medium to large organisation.
  • Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills and exposure to large payroll or HRIS systems (experience with Dayforce highly regarded).
  • Knowledge: Good understanding of payroll legislation, superannuation, and EBAs/awards.
  • Attributes: High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Team Fit: Reliable, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
