Funeral Director's Assistant

As a Mortuary and Funerals Director Assistant, you will engage in an integral role supporting our funeral services. Duties of a Funeral Directors Assistant include:
- Assist with general duties during funeral services
- Transfer deceased persons with care and professionalism
- Provide mortuary assistance as required
- Trim and prepare coffins in the workshop
- Maintain and clean vehicles and property
- Perform driving duties as needed
- Participate in the on-call roster
- Carry out lawn and garden maintenance
- Include oversight of daily cremation services, ensuring compliance with procedures, safety standards, and respectful service delivery.
- Participate in day-to-day operational tasks such as attending funerals, transfers, viewings, driving vehicles, and keeping work areas clean and tidy
- Be at ease working within a funeral, cemetery and crematoria environment
- Sensitivity, along with comfort to circumstances involving grieving people, and their values and beliefs
- An understanding of the funeral service industry and its operations, or ability to rapidly acquire industry knowledge
- Experience in a mortuary or similar environment desirable
- An ability to be customer-focused, and to communicate and respond effectively to all levels of the public
- Have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow direction
- Have the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative as well as carry out duties in a safe manner and in accordance with WHS/OHS guidelines
- An unrestricted Driver's License is essential
- Current First Aid certificate is desirable
- As this is a varied role, your flexibility to complete a range of tasks is essential
