About the role
The role of Lead Engineer Asset Management is to lead a diverse team of professionals, and to collaborate with other staff in order to complete assigned programs and projects of Council's Water and Sewer Directorate. This role is essential in the delivery of functions and responsibilities of the 'asset owner' for the Water and Sewer Directorate and seeks to ensure Council maximises the value of its assets for the community.
Reporting to the Section Manager Assets and Planning, this role will see you be responsible for the full range of water and sewer asset management functions, including the detailed preparation of strategic projects, asset monitoring and reporting functions and the preparation and management of asset related documentation, ensuring alignment with the NSW Government's Strategic Planning Assurance Framework for Local Water Utilities.
This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- a Degree qualification in Engineering or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development
- extensive experience in the planning and management of water supply and sewerage treatment and distribution infrastructure, with a high level of current knowledge in engineering matters related to the design, construction and operation of water supply and sewerage schemes.
- an understanding of engineering principles in relation to asset management and strategic planning of water and sewerage infrastructure
- demonstrated leadership behaviours, including active communication with the team in regard to performance, business strategy, diversity, coaching and mentoring and change management
- the ability to build strong, credible relationships and influence, persuade or negotiate outcomes that are of benefit or add value, to all of the organisation.

Other important information
- This position has a salary range of $111.1k to $133.6k + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance (in accordance with the Award) + 12% Superannuation. A market loading payment may apply for the right candidate based on skills and experience.
- We have a permanent full-time role available.
- This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight.
- We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role - 2 days from home and 3 days onsite.
- This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building.
A leaseback vehicle is provided in this role for official duties and private use and your choice of vehicle will be provided when one becomes available in accordance with Council's Vehicle Policy. In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $207.31 per week is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles.
Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
