What You'll Do
As a Senior Business Development Manager, you will be entrusted with shaping the future of specialist lending in Western Australia by cultivating meaningful connections with brokers, aggregators, and key industry players. Your day-to-day activities will revolve around engaging directly with your network—visiting partners regularly to ensure they feel supported, informed, and empowered. You will take charge of managing an active sales pipeline from lead generation through to deal closure while delivering tailored advice on both residential specialist loans and commercial lending opportunities. By acting as a knowledgeable mentor for your broker network, you will help them unlock new avenues for growth while also gathering valuable market insights that inform ongoing product development. Success in this role hinges on your ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on relationship management—all within an inclusive team environment where collaboration is celebrated.
- Develop and execute a focused visiting strategy to maintain high levels of interaction with brokers and aggregators throughout Western Australia, ensuring consistent market presence.
- Proactively manage a robust sales pipeline by identifying new opportunities, following up leads diligently, and converting prospects into successful business outcomes.
- Deliver exceptional servicing support to brokers regarding new residential specialist loans as well as commercial loan enquiries, ensuring all stakeholders receive timely and accurate information.
- Educate brokers about the benefits of residential specialist and commercial loan products, empowering them to grow their businesses through informed decision-making.
- Onboard new broker groups while nurturing existing relationships with brokers and aggregator partners to foster long-term collaboration and loyalty.
- Act as a trusted business mentor for your network of brokers by providing guidance on expanding their referral sources and maximising their potential within the market.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activity in order to identify product or policy innovations that can enhance the organisation's offerings in Western Australia.
- Ensure compliance with consumer lending policies and legislation at all times while maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to develop growth strategies that align with broader organisational objectives and drive sustainable business expansion.
- Utilise advanced stakeholder management skills to negotiate mutually beneficial agreements that support both broker partners' needs and organisational goals.
What You Bring
To excel as a Senior Business Development Manager in this organisation, you will bring extensive experience navigating the complexities of non-conforming or specialist lending markets alongside deep familiarity with local broker networks. Your background should reflect not only technical proficiency but also genuine enthusiasm for building lasting partnerships based on trust, empathy, and shared goals. You will have demonstrated your ability to interpret complex regulations while communicating clearly with stakeholders from varied backgrounds. Your approach is defined by dependability—brokers know they can rely on you for honest guidance—and you thrive when collaborating within supportive teams that value open dialogue. A keen eye for emerging trends allows you to anticipate market shifts while your commitment to continuous improvement ensures you remain at the forefront of industry best practice.
- Demonstrated experience in Non-Conforming or Specialist lending environments with a proven track record in business development and relationship management across diverse client portfolios.
- Comprehensive understanding of consumer lending policies, relevant legislation, and regulatory requirements within the Australian financial services sector.
- Established presence among aggregators and key broker groups operating in the Non-Conforming or Specialist lending space within Western Australia.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills underpinned by a history of providing memorable service and expert advice to clients at all levels.
- Experience onboarding new broker groups while retaining strong relationships with existing partners through consistent engagement and value delivery.
- Advanced stakeholder management abilities coupled with effective negotiation techniques that result in win-win outcomes for all parties involved.
- Proficiency in developing growth strategies as well as implementing tactical plans designed to secure new business opportunities within competitive markets.
- Capability to work both independently when required as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams dedicated to shared success.
- A full and current driver's licence enabling regular travel across Western Australia for face-to-face meetings with partners.
- Previous exposure to Commercial Mortgage lending would be advantageous but not essential for success in this position.
