About the Role

The Financial Accountant is responsible for managing accounts payable and ledger transactions with accuracy and timeliness, assisting in the preparation of financial and management reports, and providing financial guidance to staff as needed. The role also contributes to strong financial governance by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and internal controls—helping to uphold the integrity and transparency of STC's financial practices. Working within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, the Financial Accountant must be adaptable and responsive to shifting priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support month-end and year-end financial processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all related activities.
  • Ensure organisational financial compliance, including delivering training and collaborating with teams and senior management.
  • Prepare journal entries and financial reports, applying strong accounting and analytical skills to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Manage procure-to-pay processes, ensuring timely payments and adherence to procurement policies.
  • Assist with financial system and reporting changes, supporting smooth transitions and implementation of accounting updates.
  • Contribute to audit processes, continuous improvement initiatives, and uphold a safe, inclusive, and compliant workplace environment.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, with demonstrated compliance to professional standards and strong internal control knowledge.
  • Proficiency in financial management and accounting software, with the ability to apply systems knowledge to support accurate and efficient financial operations.
