Reporting to the Chief General Manager Corporate Affairs and Governance, your role is to manage government relations, regulatory affairs, industry relations, and external relationships on behalf of Allianz Australia (AAL). You will be critical in shaping the company's response to the changing regulatory and policy environment, engaging with key stakeholders and ensuring Allianz's interests are represented effectively across multiple platforms, including governmental, regulatory and industry bodies.
About the role
- Lead the development of AAL's regulatory and public policy positions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Oversee the preparation of company submissions to government reviews, inquiries, and industry submissions, advocating for company perspectives through Federal and State Governments and insurance industry bodies.
- Formulate and execute strategies for managing regulatory changes, coordinating impact assessments and advocacy with policymakers, lawmakers and through insurance industry representative bodies.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including Federal and State Government Ministers, Shadow Ministers, Members of Parliament, political advisors, regulators, industry leaders and consumer and community groups.
- Collaborate with the CGM CAG to integrate global regulatory insights from Allianz SE into local policy contexts.
- Partner with the General Manager Communications to identify and manage reputational and media risks related to policy, regulatory, government and industry issues.
- Provide coaching and guidance to senior executives on navigating complex political and regulatory landscapes.
- Develop and activate thought leadership positions on key industry, policy and regulatory issues.
- Provide expert advice to business stakeholders and subject matter experts on upcoming regulatory changes and the potential impact on AAL's operations.
- Prepare and coordinate briefing materials, reports, and presentations for senior leadership, particularly for the Office of the Managing Director.
About you
- Extensive experience in government policy, corporate affairs and stakeholder relationship management.
- Strong working relationships with political, bureaucratic, industry and consumer stakeholders.
- Strong track record of influencing policy and recommending strategy in the government relations arena.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the processes of government and policy development.
- Prior exposure to the insurance and or/ financial services industry.
- A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
