The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Affairs and Planning, the Corporate Affairs Manager will lead the development and execution of strategic communications that strengthen NSW Ports' brand, stakeholder relationships, and community reputation.

This is a pivotal role that bridges strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and media relations, and will suit a confident professional who thrives in high-profile, purpose-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver NSW Ports' overarching corporate communications strategy, aligned with key business and advocacy priorities
  • Create a range of communications and marketing content including media releases, executive presentations, newsletters, digital content, and video
  • Lead issues and crisis communications, providing proactive and reactive support for high-impact matters
  • Manage external relationships with media, government, community groups, and industry stakeholders
  • Represent NSW Ports at key forums including community consultation groups and liaise with commercial and community partners
  • Oversee brand management, ensuring consistent and effective messaging across digital platforms, including the NSW Ports website and social media
  • Support broader government affairs and public policy strategies in collaboration with internal teams

About You

You are a confident communicator and strategic thinker with a passion for impactful storytelling and reputation management. You thrive in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and can translate technical or complex content into clear, audience-friendly messaging.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, marketing, or related discipline
  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in corporate affairs, public relations or media, ideally within infrastructure, transport, logistics, or government-facing sectors
  • Strong writing and editing skills with experience developing a broad range of communications materials
  • Proven ability to manage high-stakes media and stakeholder relationships
  • Experience supporting executives with media engagement, messaging, and issues management
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and confidence representing a business in public forums
  • Understanding of the Sydney and Illawarra media landscape will be highly regarded
  • Current Driver's Licence and own vehicle
