Your new role

As a client-side Project Engineer/Project Manager, you will be heavily involved in a significant urban development and roads/rail infrastructure project from inception to completion, using your experience to deliver high level advice, stakeholder management, and problem-solving expertise to all project stakeholders. Under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager and delivery lead, you will take a hands-on approach, overlooking and coordinating engineering design, planning and approvals, construction, commercial, and reporting. This role would require some site-based activity and give you the opportunity to travel to regional sites to perform these duties.

Your responsibilities in this role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Scoping and managing major infrastructure projects from inception to handover phase, with a particular focus on water infrastructure projects;
  • Programming and scheduling;
  • Managing the preparation of tender documentation and post-tender responsibilities;
  • Coordinating design from concept to delivery;
  • Consulting with clients, with approval management and project delivery responsibility;
  • Managing stakeholders; interfacing with all relevant consultancies and contractors; and
  • Holding responsibility for regular project reporting: cost control, budget status, variations and forecasting.
  • Management of contractual requirements including scope, time, and cost.
  • Performing the role of Superintendent's representative and assessing progress claims, variations, extensions of time and other contractual concepts.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor of Engineering, with post-graduate engineering qualifications looked upon favourably. Civil qualifications a plus.
  • Experience working on significant construction projects; project values of $50 million ideally
  • Good people skills, a passion for working in a team and delivering strong results
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Can-do attitude, ability to hit the ground running, work autonomously and have a knack for problem-solving
  • Experience in Project Management and/or formal qualifications in this area would be a benefit
  • Proven ability to multitask and remain quality-focused in a fast-paced environment
