The Opportunity
The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB) who manage 7 cemeteries and memorial parks across Greater Perth is seeking a Curator of Horticulture. This pivotal role is responsible for the care, maintenance, and presentation of the MCB's lawns, gardens, and memorial parklands, ensuring these spaces are maintained to the highest standards across all MCB sites.
As part of Support Services within the Operations Division, this position overseas horticultural teams, resource management, training, operational support, and continuous service improvement initiatives ensuring our Cemetery Workers are equipped to meet service standards and operational goals. Other key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and supporting Cemetery Workers in delivering consistent, high-quality horticultural maintenance across multiple locations.
- Leading induction, capability assessments, and training to build team capacity and maintain safe work practices.
- Ensuring safe work practices, equipment maintenance, and adherence to site presentation standards.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to support smooth and respectful service delivery.
- Implementing and monitoring compliance and governance frameworks to uphold organisational policies, procedures, and quality standards.
This position is primarily based at Karrakatta Cemetery, Monday to Friday. Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work at other MCB sites depending on operational needs. Occasional Saturday work may also be required to support service delivery.

What You Bring
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate the following;
- You are an experienced horticultural leader with strong operational and people management skills.
- You have experience coordinating and guiding staff, ensuring procedures are followed and high standards are consistently maintained
- You are solutions-focused, with sound judgement and the ability to remain calm and effective when managing competing priorities or unexpected challenges.
- You have well-developed communication skills and can convey information clearly and respectfully across a range of audiences.
