About this Opportunity

Safely and efficiently undertake manual labouring duties and operate and maintain a variety of plant items including trucks, to assist in the completion of maintenance to the City's parkland, streetscapes and landscaped areas, whilst providing a high level of customer service to Council's internal and external clients to ensure efficient and effective operations.

This position works within a small, motivated team. Some of the duties of this role include:

  • Perform a range of labouring tasks, such as pruning, mowing, weeding and spreading mulch.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of items of plant and machinery items such as lawn mowers, brush cutter and hand tools.
  • Operate trucks and equipment in a safe manner.

About You

To be successful for this role you will require:

  • MR driver's licence and truck driving experience
  • Current WA Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Demonstrated experience in physical labouring.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in horticulture.
  • Experience in plant and vehicle operations such as trucks, ride on and walk behind mowers, brush cutters, landscaping hand tools, and chemical handling and application.
  • Sound knowledge of safe operation procedures and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Knowledge and awareness of WHS rules and regulations, including a sound knowledge of safe working practices.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral with an ability to deal with members of the public and other council officers.
  • Working well in a team as well as an ability to work independently and unsupervised

Hours of Work

This is permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 76 hours over a 9-day fortnight with a rostered day off.

About the Benefits

This position offers a salary of $72,218.31 per annum, plus superannuation and an operations allowance.  Other benefits include:
