About us:
Brisbane Boys' College is an established GPS day and boarding school founded in 1902, dedicated to developing boys into worthy leaders and good citizens. Located just four kilometres from Brisbane's centre, we educate students from Prep to Year 12.
About the Role:
The Learning Diversity Administration Officer provides critical support to the Learning Diversity Department, assisting senior school students identified as requiring additional support and aiding Learning Diversity staff in delivering effective educational programs.
This is a full-time, term-time position, starting in Term
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the supervision of educational activities, both in-class and during withdrawal sessions.
- Clarifying student understanding and assisting with skill development related to learning tasks.
- Helping students with time management for homework and assessment tasks.
- Supporting students' personal organization, including locker and classroom equipment management.
- Assisting students in the use of technology to enhance student independence.
- Maintain anecdotal records on student progress and development
- Assist in planning and implementing assessment adjustment sessions for eligible students.
- Perform administrative tasks to support the effective operation of the Learning Diversity Department.
- Manage purchase orders related to Learning Diversity resources and services.
- Attend team meetings where possible, recording minutes and action items, and publishing them in Teams and SharePoint.
- Assist in the coordination and execution of key assessment and examination processes, including:
- Assist in communicating with parents and families regarding Learning Diversity events
Essential Skills
- Maintain confidentiality, tact, reliability, and sensitivity when dealing with students, parents, and staff.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to function effectively as part of a team.
- Exhibit flexibility and adaptability in responding to the needs of students and staff.
- Display strong organizational and time management skills.
- Work collaboratively with the Learning Diversity team to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support students in accordance with Individual Learning Plans and strategies developed in collaboration with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using technology and various software packages to support administration and student learning.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate IV in School Based Education Support (minimum requirement)
- Familiarity with TASS and Teacher Kiosk would be preferable
- Familiarity with Alii would be preferable
Mandatory requirements
- Adhere to the PMSA Code of Conduct.
- Comply with College policies, procedures and training requirements, including those related to occupational health and safety, risk management, child protection, and confidentiality.
- Positively support the College's traditions and Christian ethos.
- Hold a current blue card or be eligible to obtain a blue card for working with children
