About the role

Shopping has become a core pillar of the Australian Open experience, delivering significant commercial growth over the past five years. As we continue to expand our Retail and Licensing business, we are seeking a dynamic Ecommerce Manager to lead and accelerate the growth of the Australian Open online store.

This role will be responsible for driving revenue, enhancing the digital customer experience, and implementing best-in-class ecommerce strategies tailored to the Australian Open online store.

In this role you will:

  • Ecommerce Strategy & Growth: Lead the end-to-end management of the AO online store, ensuring a seamless, engaging, and high-converting shopping experience.
  • Merchandising & Buying: Work with the Merchandise Planner & Licensing Manager on the product selection and buying strategy to ensure a commercially successful collection that resonates with AO fans.
  • Digital Marketing & Customer Acquisition: Develop and execute performance-driven campaigns across SEO, SEM, EDM, and social media to drive traffic, engagement, and conversion.
  • Customer Experience & Innovation: Elevate the online shopping experience through UI/UX enhancements, personalization, and data-driven optimizations.
  • Marketplace & Omni-Channel Expansion: Drive the development of new digital retail opportunities, including Marketplace integrations and Click & Collect solutions.
  • Performance & Analytics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), analyse sales data, and generate actionable insights to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • P&L & Commercial Management: Take full ownership of financial performance, ensuring strong ROI and sustainable revenue growth.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a proven track record of scaling ecommerce operations, optimising digital marketing performance, and leveraging data-driven insights to maximize commercial impact.

You will also bring:

  • Significant experience in launching, scaling, and managing retail ecommerce businesses, ideally within events, sports, or lifestyle brands.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a proven track record in P&L management, financial analysis, and revenue optimization.
  • Strategic influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and gain buy-in from senior stakeholders.
  • Expertise in digital marketing & social media, with hands-on experience in running high-impact SEO, SEM, EDM, and paid social campaigns.
  • Proficiency in Shopify, with a deep understanding of ecommerce platform management and optimisation.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a talent for building strong cross-functional relationships and working collaboratively across teams.
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
  • Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia
