Guided by values of inclusivity, respect and person-centred support, we work in partnership with people with disabilities, their families and carers to deliver services tailored to individual needs.

About the Role

As a Board Member, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction and governance of NWDS. Working alongside the Chair, CEO and fellow Board Members, to ensure the organisation operates ethically, sustainably and in line with the human rights model of disability.

You will contribute your expertise and perspective to strengthen governance, oversee financial and risk management, support effective leadership and ensure the voices of people with disability remain central to NWDS's work.

This is a voluntary governance position. Meetings are conducted in an accessible format, with reasonable adjustments available to support participation.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking Board Members who bring:

·       A commitment to inclusion, respect and human rights for people with disability

·       Understanding of governance responsibilities and collaborative decision-making

·       Strategic thinking, financial literacy and/or risk management experience

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills

·       Experience in the disability, not-for-profit or community services sector (desirable)

·       Governance qualifications such as AICD training (desirable, not essential)

We particularly encourage applications from people with lived experience of disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from diverse cultural and community backgrounds.

Requirements

Board Members must meet the statutory requirements under the Corporations Act, including holding a valid Director ID and National Police Check. Completion of the NDIS Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You is also required (or willingness to complete).

3.     How do you approach collaboration and working effectively in a team, particularly in a governance or advisory context? Please provide examples of how you have worked with diverse stakeholders, facilitated innovation, or contributed to problem-solving.
