**The Role**
The APS 6 Explosive Ordnance Licensing Manager is responsible under broad direction for day-to-day licensing activities and management of the licensing team in accordance with established policies and procedures, including supervision, coaching, mentoring and development of individual team members.
EO Licensing Manager/s role is to provide technical policy advice and guidance to ADF Units and Defence Contractors relating to the licensing aspects associated with storage and handling of explosive ordnance within the National Support Base, including submission of briefs and complex risk assessments in support of facility licensing and waiver submissions.
The successful applicant is expected to plan and lead EO licensing reviews of Defence Bases, EO Depots and contractor managed facilities. The ability to create and review EO safeguarding maps is advantageous. The role includes liaison with stakeholders within and external to Defence in respect to EO facility projects for new or upgraded explosives facilities.
**About our Team**
The Explosive Ordnance Licensing Authority comes under the responsibility of the Director Logistics - Explosive Ordnance (DLOG-EO) within Explosive Ordnance Branch (EOB). EO Licensing is one of four Sections along with, EO Storage and Distribution, EO Facilities Planning and Delivery, and EO Logistics Capability Planning.
The Explosive Ordnance Licensing Authority consists of a small team located at Defence Establishment Orchard Hills in Western Sydney. EO Licensing undertakes licensing tasks for all facilities across Australia that are used for storage of Commonwealth EO and involves occasional travel to Defence Bases and Unit Establishments to conduct facility inspections and licence reviews.
Applicants will have relevant technical qualifications and/or prior knowledge and experience gained through working with Explosive Ordnance or other Dangerous Goods either within Defence or an external Dangerous Goods industry. A contemporary understanding of the regulatory frameworks in respect to EO Safety and Management practices within Defence is highly regarded.
The ability to represent the Licensing Authority as a stakeholder on Site Selection Boards, Facility design and Construction Projects would also be highly regarded. Well
- developed IT skills utilising Microsoft software is essential. Prior experience with AutoCAD would be advantageous.
