Big things are happening at The Sussex Hotel, Walkerville We are looking for a highly experienced Sous Chef who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to make their mark in a brand-new kitchen.

About the Role:

As our Sous Chef, you'll play a pivotal role in leading the kitchen team and ensuring smooth service, especially during peak periods, serving hundreds of meals daily. We need someone who can:

  • Manage a large-scale kitchen operation with confidence and precision.
  • Train, mentor and upskill, ensuring the team consistently delivers high-quality meals.
  • Stay calm under pressure, maintaining efficiency and professionalism even during the busiest services.
  • Be a driven and passionate leader with a vision to create standout dining experiences.
  • Ensure the highest food safety and hygiene standards are met at all times.
  • Consistency is everything when it comes to building long-term success. The end goal is to deliver quality, flavour, and presentation with minimal wait times.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume venue. Minimum five years experience in similar roles.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on training, development, and team morale.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of meals and deliver excellence during high-pressure services.
  • A dynamic, innovative chef with a genuine passion for food and quality work.
  • A commitment to maintaining top-tier food safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Support of the Head Chef in achieving performance standards and seamless operations.
  • Availability to work five shifts per week, including evenings and weekends.
  • Applicants must live in/around Adelaide and be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
