Hours: 38 hours/week — Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM; Friday, 7:30 AM–3:00 PM
(Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day and 1 additional flexible hour per week)
Type: Casual (with the potential to progress to full-time)
Salary: Starts at award rate — negotiable based on experience and performance

About the Role

Down Under Insect Screens and Security is looking for a professional, experienced Receptionist / Administrative Assistant to join our small and supportive team. As the first point of contact for our business, you'll play a key role in creating a positive and welcoming environment for clients and visitors. This is a varied position that includes general administration duties to support the smooth day-to-day running of the office along with administration tasks to help managing bookings and customer requirements.

The role offers a great work-life balance — no weekend or public holiday work, Christmas–New Year shutdown, and the potential to progress to a full-time role after 6 months, depending on performance.

Responsibilities
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a courteous and professional manner

  • Greet and assist visitors in a friendly and helpful way

  • Maintain the reception and shared office areas in a clean and orderly state

  • Operate standard office equipment including computers and printers

  • Manage diary bookings: contact customers, enter booking details, send confirmation texts, and file paperwork

  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and deliveries

  • Monitor office supplies and reorder as needed

  • Maintain filing systems and accurate records (both physical and digital)

  • Provide general administrative support across the business as needed

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a reception or administrative role

  • Strong Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Typing speed of at least 35 wpm

  • Excellent interpersonal, phone, and communication skills

  • Strong time management and organisational ability

  • Confident working independently and managing multiple tasks

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional

  • No driver's licence required, but must be able to get to and from work reliably

Working Hours
  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Friday: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM

  • 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day

  • 1 additional flexible hour per week to complete tasks

  • Total: 38 hours per week

Salary
  • Starts at the relevant award rate

  • Pay can be negotiated based on experience and performance
