About us

At the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), we're dedicated to carrying out meaningful work that drives improvements and elevates student achievement across NSW, now and into the future.

We accomplish this by supporting all school sectors with high-quality syllabuses, assessment (including managing the HSC and NAPLAN), teaching standards (e.g., accrediting teachers) and school environments (including setting and monitoring school standards).

NESA is a unique organisation in NSW (of around 740FTE staff) with significant state-wide impact, visit our website to learn more about the important work we do.

About the role

We're looking for a proactive and collaborative Administration Assistant Officer to join NESA's Teaching Standards and Accreditation Directorate.

In this role, you'll work closely with the Administration Lead to provide high-quality administrative, operational, and leadership support that enables the smooth delivery of programs supporting teacher accreditation across NSW.

This is a great opportunity to step into a leadership-focused administration role where you'll guide and mentor others, contribute to process improvements, and help deliver key projects that make a genuine impact on NSW teachers and schools.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Mentor and guide Support Officers, ensuring the delivery of accurate, high-quality outcomes across Directorate initiatives.
  • Provide a range of administrative and support services to coordinate the implementation of strategic projects, including correspondence, budgeting, event coordination, and records management.
  • Reconcile and complete financial transactions, bookings, and purchasing, ensuring compliance with NESA standards and procedures.
  • Respond to enquiries via phone and email, providing accurate information and escalating issues as required.
  • Maintain records and databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility in systems such as the CRM and HP TRIM (Content Manager).
  • Support the delivery and implementation of business improvements in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Demonstrated experience in people management, with the ability to guide, mentor, and support team members.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with experience managing multiple priorities and delivering results in a busy environment.
  • Sound knowledge of CRM applications, Microsoft Office, and HP TRIM (Content Manager).
  • Proven ability to identify process improvements and contribute to more efficient ways of working.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential requirements

•    Experience in people management.

•    Appropriate knowledge, skills and experience in the use of CRM applications, Microsoft Office, and HP TRIM (Content Manager).

•    Demonstrated capability in delivering multiple projects in a busy environment.

Note: A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance for paid employment is required before commencing in this role. It is not required at the application stage. The cost of the WWCC clearance is the responsibility of the successful applicant.

We invite you to download the role description for additional information on the position.

At NESA you'll benefit from:

  • An organisation where your contribution has a big impact
  • An enviable CBD location (all modes of transport nearby, and excellent coffee and eateries) with refurbished offices
  • Flexible working arrangements and generous leave entitlements
  • Access to discounted health and fitness memberships via Fitness Passport, an employee assistance program and annual flu vaccinations
  • Salary packaging options
  • Working in a purpose driven and ethical organisation with committed colleagues
