Melbourne Cup Carnival 2025

Chefs of all levels Wanted

Food & Desire is looking for Chefs to join our team in the lead up to Melbourne Cup Carnival 2025 for preparation and chefs hands on at the major event.

Your role

  • Contribute to the preparation of menus, specials menus and ensure quality control and service standards are maintained including:

  • Ensuring all prepared/cooked food is in line with high quality food standards

  • Ensure food preparation and cooking is completed daily and in line with quality standards including:

    • Submitting all food purchasing requirements to the Head Chef/Sous Chef
    • Checking the quality of food delivered and ensuring all products are stored correctly and safely
    • Overseeing direct reports to ensure all food is prepared correctly
    • Carry out and ensure food safety compliance is met at all times including:

  • Maintaining food safety policies and procedures

  • Develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with kitchen staff and front of house staff
  • Working effectively with other departments and divisions

Your skills

  • Experience in a similar role or responsibilities
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fast paced and high-volume environment
  • Clear communication skills, effective listening skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Must have working rights in Australia
  • You're ready to work hard and have fun doing it
