The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) is seeking an accomplished
Head of Event Operations
to lead the strategic planning, coordination, and delivery of large-scale temporary infrastructure and services for the
Melbourne Cup Carnival (MCC)
and other high-profile events at
Flemington Place.
This is an exceptional opportunity to take ownership of complex, high-value projects that contribute to the delivery of
world-class events
recognised on a global stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of temporary event infrastructure (overlay) and associated services, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee and manage a portfolio of contractors and suppliers, fostering strong partnerships to achieve operational excellence.
- Collaborate with senior internal stakeholders, sponsors, and event partners to align infrastructure solutions with strategic event objectives.
- Develop, monitor, and control detailed project plans, scopes of work, budgets, and contractual agreements.
- Provide leadership during live event operations, ensuring seamless execution and rapid response to emerging challenges.
- Champion safety, compliance, and sustainability throughout all project phases.

- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate contracts, manage budgets, and deliver cost-effective outcomes.

- Highly developed problem-solving skills and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
