Sous Chef – Coppersmith Hotel (South Melbourne)
Join the kitchen team at Coppersmith Hotel, a boutique pub and restaurant in the heart of South Melbourne. We're looking for a Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in leading a small, talented team delivering refined pub classics and seasonal dishes with flair.
About the Role
You'll work closely with the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen operations — from prep to pass. You'll play a key role in menu execution, staff mentoring, maintaining high standards of presentation, and ensuring every service runs smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing and motivating the kitchen team
- Oversee stock control, ordering, and food costing
- Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and hygiene standards
- Contribute to menu development and seasonal specials
- Lead by example during service and maintain a positive kitchen culture
About You
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous or Senior CDP in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and creative presentation
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- Relevant culinary qualifications and food safety certification
