Sous Chef – Day Shift (6am–2pm) | Join a Growing Food Company

Location: Clayton South, VIC

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm

We're seeking a motivated and experienced Sous Chef to join our daytime production team. This is a hands-on role suited to a chef with strong leadership skills and a passion for organisation, consistency, and quality in a high-volume kitchen environment.

As Sous Chef, you'll support the Head Chef in leading daily production operations — ensuring meals are prepared to specification, on schedule, and to the highest food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist with the preparation, cooking, and portioning of meals according to production plans
  • Oversee kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and time management
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and consistency across all batches
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and HACCP compliance
  • Communicate effectively with management and cross-functional teams (packing, QA, logistics)
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and performance support of kitchen staff

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Chef or Sous Chef in a commercial or production kitchen
  • Strong multi-tasking, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound understanding of HACCP and food safety standards
  • Reliable, organised, and hands-on approach to work
