Help power Australia's scientific innovation by supporting the digital backbone of modern laboratories. In this role, you'll work with scientists, technicians and ICT teams to uplift a secure, air-gapped LAN, modernise workflows and strengthen data management across multiple sites (Lindfield/North Ryde, NSW and Port Melbourne, VIC). You'll map data flows and storage, maintain software/licence registers, and report on solution adoption to management and user forums. This is a hands-on, stakeholder-rich position where your IT project experience and communication skills directly improve reliability, usability and security for critical lab environments.

We're seeking someone with 3+ years in IT enhancement projects (e.g., instrument control software, data or workflow systems), strong analysis and documentation skills, and proven collaboration with technical and non-technical users. Experience in lab ICT operations is essential, and an active Baseline AGSVA security clearance is required. Desirables include tertiary qualifications in ICT/engineering/sciences, plus exposure to software development, cyber security, data analysis, and lab standards (e.g., NATA/TGA).

What you'll do

  • Uplift and optimise an air-gapped LAN in partnership with lab & ICT teams
  • Map data flows and storage; document current/target states
  • Build and maintain software & licence registers for planning/procurement
  • Report on solution adoption, risks/issues and progress to forums & governance
  • Contribute procedures and documentation for sustainable, secure operations

About you (Essential)

  • 3+ years delivering IT enhancement projects (instrument control, data/workflow, or information management systems)
  • Operate autonomously under broad direction; strong organisation & problem-solving
  • Stakeholder engagement, negotiation & vendor coordination experience
  • Excellent communication: user engagement, reporting & technical writing
  • Experience supporting ICT in scientific/laboratory environments
  • Active Baseline AGSVA security clearance

Desirable

  • Tertiary quals in ICT/engineering/chemistry/biology/physics
  • Knowledge of software development, cyber security, or data analysis
  • Familiarity with lab standards/accreditations (e.g., NATA, TGA)
