Primary objective
The Assistant Director Staff Wellbeing is responsible for overseeing the development and integration of wellbeing and manages a team
responsible for delivering the department's strategies relating to employee wellbeing and safety. Utilising contemporary evidence and data
to inform support and service delivery that improves employee wellbeing, engagement, resilience and safety of the workforce.
Context statement
This position leads the Wellbeing unit within Safety, Culture and Care in the School Leadership Culture and Care team. The Wellbeing
unit leads the delivery of system wide staff wellbeing initiatives designed to support the wellbeing and safety of all educators, school
leaders and corporate staff in the work they do. The team works collaboratively across the branch and divisions within the agency to
plan, inform and deliver an integrated response to wellbeing and safety priorities. The School Leadership Culture and Care team is the
centre of expertise for education workforce strategy, professional development, wellbeing, and culture, ensuring a culturally responsive
workforce that is caring, capable, engaged and enabled. The team is responsible for leading an integrated approach to employee wellbeing
and diversity, inclusion and cultural responsiveness across 153 schools and corporate sites.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Foster positive workplace culture that acknowledges, is respectful of and responsive to diverse cultures, experiences, and
perspectives.
2. Lead, manage and motivate a team to maintain effective performance and focus on task and project deliverables to achieve outcomes.
3. Provide advice and guidance to influence and coordinate the consideration of broader context and plan for employee wellbeing
initiatives and processes for employee wellbeing frameworks and strategic plans.
4. Manage stakeholder engagement and coordination, maintain effective ways of working and performance approaches to achieve
project deliverables in a timely manner.
5. Provide strategic direction and oversight of the development and implementation of the Staff Wellbeing and Safety Action Plan,
inclusive of the whole of government Mentally Healthy Framework and Toolkit.
6. Develop relationships, consult and partner with schools, other business areas and other key departments, in particular Department of
Digital and Corporate Development to support the educational workforce.

Essential
1. Demonstrated understanding of the wellbeing issues affecting educators and employees in diverse cultural and geographical
education contexts.
2. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and support others to adapt with agility in achieving results.
3. Highly developed interpersonal, oral communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence a broad range of
stakeholders.
4. Strong written communication skills, including experience in preparing project plans, briefings, and reports.
5. Demonstrated capability to build and sustain inclusive, collaborative relationships and networks across agencies or organisations.
6. Well-developed project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to implement effective monitoring
and evaluation systems for continuous improvement.

1. A qualification equivalent relevant to the position's key duties and responsibilities.
