The role

Guide Dogs Queensland is seeking an organised and passionate Events Officer to help deliver our exciting calendar of events This part-time role (22.8 hours per week across 3 days) is based at our beautiful Bald Hills head office, with flexibility in working days for the right candidate.

Reporting to the Special Events Manager, in this role, you'll provide administrative and coordination support for events that bring people together – clients, supporters, donors, staff, and volunteers – from our morning tea series and monthly staff BBQs to large-scale events like our Guide Dog Graduation, Puppy Pals Day, and our Supporter Lunch.

With more than 50 events in the calendar each year, this role ensures every occasion – big or small – is delivered with professionalism, care, and impact. Each event is unique, giving you the opportunity to apply your planning, creativity, and problem-solving skills while making a real difference in the community.

As a newly created role within our growing Community Engagement department, we're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, contribute ideas, and support our busy events calendar.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Act as the internal first point of contact for event-related enquiries.
  • Assist the Special Events Manager in handling incoming event requests from internal teams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support fundraising, marketing, and client-focused events.
  • Coordinate the booking of event resources, including venues, catering, AV, signage, merchandise, and marketing materials.
  • Support event planning from concept development through to delivery and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team on briefs for event collateral development.
  • Prepare run sheets, briefing notes, budgets, and other event documentation.
  • Attend on-site and off-site events, assisting with set-up/pack-down, and ensuring smooth delivery.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of event processes, inclusivity, and accessibility.
About you
  • Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • 1 - 2 years' experience in events, administration, or a similar role.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • High attention to detail, with strong problem-solving and initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (CRM or ticketing platform experience is a bonus).
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional out-of-hours events.
  • Open Driver's Licence.
