Your next career opportunity

As a Research Fellow in the Forest and Landscape Dynamics Research Group, you'll lead the forest resource assessment component of a groundbreaking project. You'll apply remote sensing and participatory GIS mapping to develop a framework guiding sustainable forestry investments. Working with leading institutions and industry partners, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of regional forestry development across Australia.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct Innovative Research: Lead forest resource assessments using remote sensing and participatory GIS mapping to develop investment frameworks for sustainable forestry.

• Collaborate and Publish: Work closely with project investigators, contribute to high-impact publications, and present findings at conferences and seminars.

• Engage with Stakeholders: Liaise with industry partners and government bodies to ensure practical relevance of research outcomes.

• Support Student Development: Contribute to teaching and supervision of research students, primarily at the undergraduate level.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a dedicated researcher with a PhD in forest ecology or a related field, possessing strong GIS and remote sensing skills, and the ability to design and implement field-based research programs while collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

You may also:

• Have a PhD (or be near completion) in forest ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline.

• Possess demonstrated experience in GIS, remote sensing, or participatory mapping.

• Have a track record of publishing research in relevant areas, commensurate with your experience.

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.

• Show the ability to work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary research environment.

• Have experience in engaging with industry stakeholders and fostering collaborative partnerships.
