**The Role**:
Reporting to the Executive GM People, Culture & Safety, the role of General Manager Health Safety & Wellbeing is a
**VITAL** role in the business and will provide an exceptionally high level of safety and injury management expertise, to help ensure employees feel mentally and physically safe at work.
Ideally the GM Health Safety & Wellbeing will possess traits such strong leadership skills and show transparency in all dealings across the board. You will embody a partnership approach when implementing safety initiatives to instil a collaborative approach.
Things You’ll
**Do**:
- Be a business facing, solution orientated professional who is able to lead, drive and sustain change in the organisation's safety culture.
- Develop, Implement and maintain the organisation's Work Health and Safety Management System and Injury Management and Return to Work Framework
- Develop and implementation of the organisation's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Understand the safety, health & well-being challenges the business faces and, in partnership, drive and implement change
- Set strategic safety, health & well-being targets and drive the business in the achievement of these targets
- Provide practical safety and injury management advice and guidance to reduce claims
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor the team
- Overall responsibility for the mental health program development and implementation;
- Champion the EAP and the service offerings available as well as vendor management
- Lead, manage and embed behaviors including identification and support of wellbeing initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor the team
- Develop, maintain and update all policies, procedures, and manuals covering WH&S, workplace rehabilitation, and compensation management
- Assist in the coordination of WH&S training programs for all staff members
- Prepare a WHS Safety Plan together with key performance indicators specifically for injury improvement
- Report on the monthly, quarterly, and annual operations and performance of the WHS to the Board, Executive Team

**About you**:
- Degree qualified in WH&S
- Experience in presenting to the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team
- Strong ability to drive and lead a Safety and well-being strategy that reduces injury severity and frequency improves premium and overall drive a culture of safety and wellbeing
- A strong understanding of the Victorian workers’ compensation legislation & premium calculations
- Capability in developing metrics to drive enhanced performance and a targeted plan
- An ongoing commitment to continuous improvement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-site environment
- Previous experience in developing and implementing Mental Health and Wellbeing frameworks and programs
- WH&S experience with Workplace Assessment experience
- Strong communication, relationship building, and interpersonal skills
- Sound understanding of The Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act
- Sound understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Maintain an up-to-date awareness of changes \ forthcoming changes to relevant legislation which may impact upon BlueCross and develop appropriate compliance strategies
