The City of Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Building Compliance Officers to join our team on a permanent full-time basis This role is crucial in investigating and enforcing development compliance , ensuring the city's growth aligns with legislative requirements and best practice standards.

What you'll be doing:

  • Conducting inspections and investigations to assess compliance with building and development legislation.
  • Engaging with residents, developers, and government agencies to ensure clear communication of regulations.
  • Researching and interpreting legislation, policies, and records to provide informed recommendations.
  • Preparing detailed reports and correspondence , ensuring compliance with business processes.
  • Taking enforcement action when required to uphold legislative requirements and the Cit when deemed appropriate.

What We're Looking For:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent industry experience, previous government experience will be highly regarded.
  • A strong understanding of statutory compliance, development approvals, and enforcement procedures .
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to work effectively with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Planning Act, Building Act, and Building Code of Australia is highly desirable.
  • Experience in building compliance, or other relevant fields with additional experience in Regulatory Enforcement highly regarded.
  • A positive and energetic outlook and enjoy working within a team.
  • Excellent level of documentation and written communication skills
  • The ability to prioritise and manage numerous investigations.
  • A valid Class C Unrestricted Driver's Licence
  • WHS Licence (White Card) or willingto obtain one before starting.
