The City of Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Building Compliance Officers to join our team on a permanent full-time basis This role is crucial in investigating and enforcing development compliance , ensuring the city's growth aligns with legislative requirements and best practice standards.
What you'll be doing:
- Conducting inspections and investigations to assess compliance with building and development legislation.
- Engaging with residents, developers, and government agencies to ensure clear communication of regulations.
- Researching and interpreting legislation, policies, and records to provide informed recommendations.
- Preparing detailed reports and correspondence , ensuring compliance with business processes.
- Taking enforcement action when required to uphold legislative requirements and the Cit when deemed appropriate.
What We're Looking For:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent industry experience, previous government experience will be highly regarded.
- A strong understanding of statutory compliance, development approvals, and enforcement procedures .
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to work effectively with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the Planning Act, Building Act, and Building Code of Australia is highly desirable.
- Experience in building compliance, or other relevant fields with additional experience in Regulatory Enforcement highly regarded.
- A positive and energetic outlook and enjoy working within a team.
- Excellent level of documentation and written communication skills
- The ability to prioritise and manage numerous investigations.
- A valid Class C Unrestricted Driver's Licence
- WHS Licence (White Card) or willingto obtain one before starting.
