We're looking for a hands-on, people-focused leader to take charge of one of the most critical parts of our business - our overseas trade assistant (TA) workforce.

In this role, you'll oversee around 45 trade assistants, many of whom are on visa arrangements. You'll be their first point of contact, managing everything from onboarding and housing to payroll admin, vehicle logistics, and supporting them day-to-day on the ground.

This is a unique operational role that blends workforce coordination, practical HR, compliance, and logistical planning. You'll also work closely with management to plan future recruitment, liaise with migration agents, and ensure everything is running smoothly, both for the workers and the business.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Coordinating onboarding: inductions, English lessons, medical insurance, licenses, rent agreements, and systems training.
  • Managing T&A systems: ensuring accurate time and attendance reporting for payroll and analysing workforce data.
  • Overseeing housing: lease negotiation, renewals, inspections, and issue resolution.
  • Supporting vehicle access: assisting with provision and licensing for overseas workers.
  • Working with migration agents on visa applications, renewals, and compliance.
  • Providing regular reporting, financial oversight, and performance tracking.
  • Acting as the key liaison between the visa workforce and site managers - holding firm when needed and advocating when appropriate.

What You Bring:

  • A background in construction, roofing, or a trade-based environment (highly regarded).
  • Experience working with or managing a migrant workforce.
  • Strong grasp of the Fair Work Act, labour awards, migration and employment standards.
  • Practical, no-nonsense approach to solving problems.
  • Excellent communication, administration, and organisational skills.
  • A firm but fair leadership style - someone who knows when to step in and when to listen.
