Payroll Officer | Full-Time | Melbourne CBD | Permanent Opportunity

Are you an experienced Payroll Officer looking to join a large, well-established organisation with strong processes and a supportive finance team? This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end payroll operations in a business that values accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a diverse workforce. This includes preparation, validation, and reconciliation of employee data relating to wages, allowances, leave, and terminations. You'll also act as a key point of contact for payroll queries and ensure compliance with all relevant awards, agreements, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll on a weekly and/or fortnightly basis, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external providers to verify payroll information.
  • Maintain employee master data, leave balances, and other payroll-related records.
  • Manage WorkCover, superannuation, and other statutory obligations.
  • Handle payroll exceptions and troubleshoot discrepancies promptly.
  • Respond to employee queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support internal and external audits and provide required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work, Awards, and relevant industrial instruments.

About You

You'll bring strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of payroll legislation, and a proactive approach to resolving issues. You're comfortable managing confidential information and thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Understanding of Awards, EAs, and payroll legislation.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll or rostering systems (experience with large, complex environments advantageous).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
